November was a success, I suppose. It was the first month since summer that my apartment avoided a break-in. |

I went to Seward Montessori this afternoon to watch the maiden game of the volleyball team Mary coaches. The home team lost, but the match wasn't without its high points. "Gorilla stance! Gorilla stance!" Mary would shout at her team. |

While I was in Clinton, Giselle's anemia got so out of hand that an emergency blood transfusion between her and Butter had to be coordinated in the first pasture. |

This afternoon I went to the Little Italy Festival of Clinton, Indiana. Apparently in Clinton, a celebration of the community’s hundred-year ethnic identity just isn’t complete without an endless number of vendors selling lemon shake-ups, deep-fat-fried Twinkies, and make-your-own sand candles. Another choice way of commemorating the town’s heritage is to invite local dance squads to share their routines with passers-by. The members in the outfit I saw were gussied up in neon green trucker caps and pink t-shirts reading “Revelations: Kickin’ It For Christ.” Sadly, the dance number failed to live up to the promise of the dancers’ spirited getups. |

Tonight at dinner I sat by Sister Francis Joan and Sister Rosemary. They were discussing The Lawrence Welk Show and how they tune in every Saturday night. "I sure like that JoAnn Castle," I said. "Mark, you've got great taste," said Sister Rosemary. |

The wind today was comparable to that six years ago when the band went to small group contest. That day it was so gusty that the cardboard discs blew off the timpanis and went into the construction pit outside Vermillion High School. That was also the day our bus broke down outside Freeman and there was a giant dust storm by WalMart/Taco Bell/Wendy's in Yankton. After we got back I had to finish making my "Jungle Chemistry" board game. |
